IMPROVING AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS AGILITY
DIGITALly, SECURely & creatively
Engineering a smarter future ... faster.
I'm an experienced business process, digital transformation, security and risk consultant.
I have assisted numerous businesses to transform themselves into sleek, agile, automated and secure, customer-centric success stories.
Over the past 25 years, I have been privileged to work with some of Australia's most iconic businesses and government agencies, as well as exciting startups, and robust SME's.
Throughout the past 2 decades, I have worked with local, state and Federal governments on physical and cyber security.
I am constantly on the hunt for threats, obstacles, opportunities and waste.
Threats and particularly the cybersecurity threat landscape changes daily, sometimes hourly. I assist various partners by providing a VIRTUAL CISO/CSO service, where I leverage my 25year knowledge and experience in Physical and Cybersecurity into an affordable protection plan, contact me to find out more.
Waste, in whatever form it appears, unless managed well, can erode a business’ profits, negatively affect productivity and efficiency, and detract from a business’ sustainability.
I ensure all efforts and resources are directed toward a clearly defined and inspiring strategic mission.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Security CONSULTANT
Physical Security
After working my way up in the security field, I began my own security company at 24, by 30 it had grown to a training academy and 2 companies.
Even as a young Security Professional, I was trusted to protect such events as Millenium NYE Party @The Rocks /Circular Quay, Olympics, Royal Visits [I am pictured here helping protect the Prince on his Australian tour].
By 45 when I sold, the ASAP Group was a national network of Security Professionals with such high-value national clients as The WesFarmers Group (Coles, Officeworks etc) and Government Departments such as the High Court & Federal Court of Australia Where we remained incumbent for the duration (17+ years).
Nearly 3 decades later, security is in my DNA and at the forefront of everything I do.
Risk Management
I completed my Diploma in Security and Risk Management in 2006 and used a lot of the formal principles as the basis of my Site Risk Assessment Mobile Application (SRAMA), and Security Risk Management Software (SRMS) developed around 2009 and still relevant today.
Being the Security & Risk Consultant for national retail brands spanning 250+ stores across the country, including regional and remote areas, though my professional integrity demanded I see each site, the cost and time were prohibitive.
I developed the SRAMA product, to fill this need and close a well-known hole in Security and Risk Management, where regional and remote locations would often not have a Site Risk Assessment performed due to cost.
SRAMA allows for agents to perform the onsite part of the assessment in these regional areas. Agents simply follow along, guided by the app, and the Risk Management Professional. They are instructed where to take pictures and video and given the right questions to ask in this all-important information-gathering phase.
Senior Risk Professionals share the data live, can join and direct the virtual tour, or ask for further information, before approving the Site Assessment, all without leaving their desk.
I develop Protective Security Policy Frameworks and Risk Management Policy and Frameworks for many diverse clients and industries.
Cybersecurity
Digital and Data Security now takes most of my time as the landscape so frequently changes.
Cyber Security is not a set-and-forget issue, instead, it requires constant oversight, investment and improvement to manage risks. Most businesses' appetite for advanced technology exceeds their ability to protect it.
I spend at least one day each fortnight researching and analysing the latest global Cyber Security threats and trends in order to stay abreast of the ever-changing landscape.
I (virtually) attend SnykCon, ENIGMA conference each year, as well as being on the alert list for the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ASCS) and subscribe to podcasts such as Darknet diaries, SecurityNow, Cyberwire daily, Databreach today etc
I consult with government and corporate organisations, where I aim for complete alignment between their cyber capability and their business strategy.
2020 was a year like no other. It was also a year for high profile breaches and cyberattacks, as criminals targeted remote workers and capitalised on the fear and uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.
The risk of cyber disruption has never been greater. The combination of persistent sophisticated threat actors with busier and more distracted employees is the perfect recipe for a successful cyber breach.
Each of my clients' Cyber Security Resilience journeys begins with a Vulnerability Assessment.
I then analyse the results of this against the Business Risk Management Framework, threat landscape and the organization's risk tolerance.
I use these results and develop a tailored Security Risk Management Plan including detailed, easy to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the organisation, such as device and personnel onboarding procedures.
I also create specific SOPs for any DevOps or DevSecOps branch, outsourced software or custom development providers.
The plan includes the creation of detailed libraries for all devices, software, code and dependencies, as well as an automation tool to keep these patched and up-to-date.
I set instant alerts into the tool whenever security vulnerabilities are known to exist in any item in the client library.
change management
I have spent the past 5 years leading internal and partner digital programs and change teams for Business Software Design and their strategic partners.
Where my customers needed it, I became responsible for building and managing cross-functional teams to better leverage their resources, improve their CX and create greater synergy with their strategic outcomes.
I quickly became a skilled Agile Leader and Scrum Coach as I led my Customers successfully through the disruptive change processes we engineered.
Many clients used off-the-shelf Development and Project Management tools and software, which meant I needed to adapt and become proficient in it's use.
I have therefore had experience with (and can provide some guidance on) nearly every major development and DevOps tool suite in the market, including;
Config Management

software Development
I have been developing Software for over 20 years , yes ... I am a Y2K Bug survivor! :-)
I realised whiteboard rosters and excel sheets just weren't the most efficient use of resources. In order to create margins in a price-driven Security Industry, I needed to create leverage. Do more than my competitors, with less.
I refused to succumb to dropping wages as this would remove my point of difference for my Gold Level Security Service, where we provided "Executive Security Professionals" not "Guards", and in doing so, my suits
I began developing software, which didn't exist at the time, to Systemise and Automate much of our Rostering, which required 6 Managers to Roster 240 personnel.
Automating rostering was a huge success, with benefits including fewer resources, fewer errors, faster response times, less overtime and better suitability, equality and fairness.
I became obsessed with systemising and automated EVERYTHING, from Recruitment, Induction, Training, Performance Management, Invoicing, Payroll, Time and Attendance, Reporting, Compliance, Risk Assessment, there was not one area of the business that wasn't improved and automated to the same incredible & reliable results.
A red-letter day for us, was when we invited our customers to join in. We had waited so long for the world to become comfortable with technology so we could finally add this missing piece to our puzzle.
Our Customers became our software's biggest fans, knowing they could book, check and change services at the click of a button gave them the control they never thought they could have. Customers would book the services, the bots we wrote would not only fill them, but the bots also checked on team arrivals, updated their training, posted messages between client, management and staff, allowing for instant reporting, tracking and issue management.
Transparency became our new mantra, everything our team could see, our management could see, and the Customer could see ... LIVE.
With that level of automation, expansion was inevitable and painless, adding new businesses and territories to the group happened every few months until we were a National Group and really making the ponderous and primitives in the industry hate us!
By 2013 I had automated the business to a point of diminishing returns. My development team was the largest of any department.
The businesses were lean to the point where many insterstate offices were locked most of the time as nearly all tasks were automated and customers had everything they needed online.
In 2016 I received an offer for the business from a Japanese Investment Group that were looking for completely automated businesses (they do love a good robot over there!).
I took stock and realised I had spent the past decade or more in software and business development and now there was actually nothing left for me to do. So I took the offer, but kept the code, with a view to preparing it for the open market.
Business Software Design was born with 1 main purpose, to bring BARK (Business Automation & Record Keeping) Platform to the masses, starting with our very jealous rivals in the security industry.
automation
Automation, AI and Robotics have always been passions of mine. This picture was taken in 2013 in our partner factory in Guangdong China celebrating our first Concierge Identity Robot (Coni) to come off the line.
Though quite simple in today's fast-changing world. It was revolutionary at the time as it used our proven facial recognition algorithms to recognise and log staff, contractors and regular visitors in and out. It would then talk to Building Management Systems to call a lift, send it to a floor, light the way, and turn on lights and Air Con for the person's area. Coni can even put the kettle on.
For Visitor Access, it used voice to text as well as a large touch screen to gather visitor information.
It immediately contacts the person being visited through SMS or Video Chat and can begin talking through and displaying a fire safety induction or branding story while the guest waited to be collected or authorised to be sent up.
As per a customer request, we added a degradable label printer for day passes. I hate printing anything, so in a later release, I replaced the pass with a self-expiring link, displaying the visitor pass authority including a QR code, photo etc on the person's phone in order to be more eco friendly and the customer was ecstatic.
I am obsessed with leveraging business resources through the use of automation. I want people to work at their highest capacity, and leave data entry and drone work to the drones.
I can now see opportunity everywhere as I have ultimate faith in my ability to design and code anything.
"Bring me a problem ... and a coffee, and I'll design a solution"
I have been lucky enough to work with startups to large organizations and Governments. I offer the same level of consultancy for any type of organization. I begin by getting a thorough grasp of the Customer Journey and then making that as robust, consistent and comfortable as possible.

LIFE EXPERIENCE
FAMILY
I have a fantastic family at the centre of my universe.
Any success I have is due to the desire to provide for them.
I feel very blessed in my life and take nothing for granted.
The Dog and Chooks are not shown here, but they know they're important too.
FUN
I have a passion for riding the Phillip Island track on my Ducati 916SPS, which I ride down whenever I can to de-stress??
It may sound odd to think sliding around Stoner corner at +200kph on a tyre-edge is DE-stressful ... but it is!
Philanthropy
I really enjoy the feeling I get when I help others and try to make the most of my opportunities to do so.
Last year I grew my hair, shaved it bald and donated the hair to cancer sufferers. We registered as Emergency Foster Carers for kids in urgent need of a bed for a night or week.
I sponsor African families and would one day like to fund and support a community and provide them with a school in Malawi.
